What's the number one thing you look for when you' What's the number one thing you look for when you're searching for the perfect Wedding Filmmaker? Is it personality, price (obviously), or maybe a familiarity with your venue? If you've been looking for a filmmaker you've probably realized that it can be a little overwhelming at times and I'm here to help you in your search with my 5 best tips on finding the perfect person to capture your day!

1. Do they match your vibe? Vibe means final product but also realize your filmmaker will likely be around you more than almost any other person on your wedding day!

2. How much experience do they have? Making a film is a multi-layered skill. It takes shooting, editing, and understanding media management on a level that would blow your average photographer away. Make sure to check their reviews and ask about turnaround time.

3. Do they offer raw footage? Not every person will watch their raw footage, it’s true. The value here is in having full clips of grandparents, siblings, and other loved ones as opposed to short clips only delivered in a highlight film. Could that be important to you at some point?

4. How do they back up their footage? Not backing up to the cloud is a huge red flag for couples. I can’t tell you how many forums are full of “how to recover video files” threads with couples that have their footage lost due to the irresponsibility of a filmmaker. With hard drives, its not a matter of “if it will fail”, rather “when it will fail.” Plan accordingly.

5. Are they too cheap? You know the saying, “you get what you pay for.” A cheap price means a likely increase in risk and a decrease in quality. Have you ever met a discount videographer? They’re either brand new with cheap equipment or someone old who still films on tape. I wouldn’t recommend either!
